Glossi (“Glossi,” “we,” “us”) helps small businesses give their customers a digital loyalty card in Apple Wallet — no separate app required. This policy explains what information we collect, from whom, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the Glossi mobile app, the digital Wallet passes it creates, and the pages on this site.
Glossi is used by two kinds of people, and this policy covers both: merchants who sign up for a Glossi account to run a loyalty program, and their customers, who add a Wallet pass but never create a Glossi account of their own.
When a merchant collects a customer's Wallet pass, we collect what that sign-up form actually asks for — typically the customer's name and birthday, and optionally an email address and/or phone number if the merchant has that field turned on. Birthday is used to send a one-time birthday reward message to the customer's Wallet pass each year, if the merchant has that feature turned on. We also record each stamp/punch event (when and roughly how many visits), so the card can show real progress.
The merchant is the one deciding what to collect and why — Glossi provides the tool, but each merchant is responsible for their own customers' data the way any small business is responsible for its own customer list.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use customer data collected on behalf of a merchant for our own advertising.
An Apple Wallet pass isn't a regular app — it's a signed file that lives in the customer's Wallet app and updates itself when the underlying data changes (a new stamp, a redesigned card). To make that work, Apple requires us to be able to reach the pass via push notification. This is a technical requirement of how Wallet passes function, not a marketing channel — Apple does not allow custom marketing messages through this system, only real changes to the pass itself (e.g. “+1 stamp” or an updated reward).
Removing a Wallet pass from Apple Wallet (tap the pass, then the ‘···’ button, then Remove) stops all further updates to it immediately.
We keep merchant account data for as long as the account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward in case you want to reactivate it. We keep customer data collected by a merchant for as long as that merchant's account is active, unless the merchant deletes a customer's record directly. If a merchant closes their Glossi account, their customers' data is deleted along with it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Merchants can update most of their own account and business information directly in the app's Settings. Customers should reach out to the specific business whose loyalty card they hold — since the merchant controls that relationship — or contact us directly and we'll help route the request. Either way, you can always reach us at the email below.
Glossi is intended for business use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Glossi is used by merchants and their customers in multiple countries, including within the European Union. If you're located in the EU/EEA or UK, we process your personal information on the legal bases of contract performance (running your account), legitimate interest (keeping the service secure and working), and consent (e.g. optional marketing communications a merchant sends). Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, using safeguards required by applicable law.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information — encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) everywhere, access controls limiting who and what can read your data, and secure credential storage on your device (iOS Keychain) rather than plain local storage. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously and work to keep it that way.
We may update this policy as Glossi changes. If we make a material change, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let merchants know directly. Continuing to use Glossi after a change means you accept the updated policy.
